Faith & Fun Christian Preschool -
Meet Our Teachers!

My name is Corinne Saumenig.  I am the Me & My Shadow, 2's teacher.  I graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. I also have a Master’s Degree of Education in At-Risk Students from Goucher College. While attending Towson, I taught in a daycare setting and a private preschool. I taught Kindergarten in the Baltimore County School District for 12 years. I resigned to stay home with my children and continue to take graduate courses at Penn State University – York to maintain my teaching certificate. I have been teaching the Me & My Shadow class at Faith & Fun since 2015.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and four children, swimming, photography, and participating at my church. I have served as a Discussion Group Leader in my Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group for many years. I also spend time volunteering at my children’s schools and being a Girl Scout leader. I love working with the two year-old class and their Mommies and Daddies! I look forward to introducing our littlest learners to God's Love.

My name is Shanda Opsitos and I am the Monday, Wednesday, Friday teacher in the Busy Bees class.  I have a degree in Sociology and over 20 years of experience in the Early Childhood field. I have served as teacher, director and teacher trainer throughout my career.  Most recently I worked at Head Start of York County for 10 years before deciding to stay home with our daughter, Nora.  My goal as a teacher is to provide a nurturing, safe and fun environment for children to explore and play, and in doing so, learn from hands on experiences.  I will work diligently to guide the children to respect others and their surroundings and to provide activities and experiences that enable them to grow and flourish as God intends.

Hi! My name is Caroline Wilson.  I am the director of Faith and Fun Preschool and am also the Monday, Wednesday, Friday 4’s teacher.  I live in Shrewsbury with my husband of eleven years, Eric, and our two adorable children, Claire (5) and Miles (3.5).  In my free time, I enjoy knitting, sewing, and playing with my children.  I have my Bachelor's degree in Communications from York College and my Master's in Education from Drexel University.  I have been working as a substitute teacher in grades from PreK up to Senior High for nearly eleven years.  This will be my second year teaching at Faith and Fun and my first year as director.  My daughter attended Faith and Fun and my son will be in the threes class this year and we just love it! I’m so blessed that God brought my family to Faith and Fun.  I have never found a more supportive and kind staff and such wonderful families.

Hello, my name is Ms. Tina and I am the 4’s, Monday through Thursday teacher.  I have a degree in Early Childhood Education, and have been teaching at Faith and Fun for fifteen years.  Altogether, I’ve taught for about 30 years, working with various ages of children from toddler through Kindergarten.  Teaching is a job that never gets old and I love it!  My home is here in Shrewsbury with my husband and college-aged daughter.  I enjoy reading, swimming, cooking, and, especially, sleeping.  One of my favorite activities is shopping and antiquing with my daughter.  I feel privileged to work at Faith and Fun with such wonderful teachers and supportive families.

Our Mission

The purpose of Faith & Fun Christian Preschool at Grace United Methodist Church is to create a faith-filled learning experience for both children and parents from all walks of life.  This program will give the children the opportunity to explore and experiment in a safe and nurturing environment, therefore promoting spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical and social growth.

Our Program

Faith & Fun Christian Preschool is a parent – child cooperative program established as an outreach ministry of Grace United Methodist Church.  We believe that children are a gift from God, entrusted to parents and educators to help develop their unique gifts.  The children will be nurtured by a Christian staff and loving parents, learning Christian values hand in hand with traditional early childhood skills.  We believe that children are natural learners when concepts are introduced through play and developmentally appropriate practices.

The program operates September through May.  Those parents who sign up to be a volunteer are required to assist in their child’s classroom a few hours each month.  Our volunteer calendar works on a rotating basis where, if you sign up to be a parent volunteer, you will be asked to sign up for a volunteer day approximately every 8-12 school days, depending on how many students are signed up for your child's class.  For example, if your child's class has 12 students you will be volunteering as classroom helper approximately every 12 school days, depending on which day you choose to volunteer.
